Regent Bali Canggu Review; The Bali Hotel Everyone in Luxury Travel Is Suddenly Talking About

Pinterest LinkedIn

Regent Bali Canggu combines Michelin-starred restaurants, free-flow champagne, next-generation wellness and impeccable service in one extraordinary beachfront resort.

There is a quiet but significant shift happening across global luxury hospitality.

After years dominated by minimalist wellness retreats, overly casual “lifestyle” hotels and resorts designed primarily for social media, a new generation of luxury properties is returning to something travellers have quietly been craving again: grandeur, precision, generosity and true five-star service.

And nowhere is that evolution more visible right now than at Regent Bali Canggu. Occupying one of the most coveted absolute beachfront positions in Bali, Regent Bali Canggu feels less like another new luxury resort and more like a statement about where high-end hospitality is heading next.

This is not barefoot luxury attempting to look effortless. Nor is it another hyper-designed lifestyle property chasing trends.

Instead, Regent Bali Canggu delivers something increasingly rare in modern hospitality: deeply considered luxury where every detail — from wellness programming and Michelin-starred dining to airport transfers and even cappuccino service — has been engineered to elevate the guest experience. It feels old school, but in the best ways.

The result is one of the most impressive luxury hotel openings Bali has seen in years.

Location: One of Bali’s Best Beachfront Addresses in Canggu

Rating: 10/10

Canggu has transformed dramatically over the past decade. Once a relaxed surf enclave, it is now one of Southeast Asia’s most influential lifestyle destinations — attracting creatives, entrepreneurs, digital nomads and luxury travellers from around the world. And the focus is wellness from super food cafes to gyms, ice baths and massages.

But with that popularity has come congestion, overdevelopment and an oversupply of hotels competing for attention. Regent Bali Canggu immediately separates itself from the noise.

Set directly along the beachfront, the resort feels calmer, more polished and notably more international in tone than many neighbouring properties. There is an unmistakable European sensibility to the atmosphere — elegant beach clubs, refined landscaping and sophisticated pacing replacing the louder energy dominating much of Canggu.

The beachfront positioning alone is exceptional given how limited true oceanfront land has become in Bali.

Yet despite being moments from the area’s restaurants, boutiques and nightlife, the property maintains an extraordinary sense of privacy and escape. From arrival, the attention to detail is unmistakable.

Guests are offered meditation headphones during airport transfers — a thoughtful gesture that immediately shifts the nervous system into a slower rhythm before arrival at the resort itself. That level of consideration continues throughout the entire stay.

Rooms & Suites: Some of the Most Beautiful Luxury Hotel Rooms in Bali

Rating: 10/10

The rooms and suites at Regent Bali Canggu are among the most sophisticated new hotel rooms currently available in Bali. Not because they are excessive — but because they are deeply refined and the attention to detail is acute.

Designed by globally renowned hospitality design firm Hirsch Bedner Associates, whose portfolio includes some of the world’s leading Aman, Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton and St. Regis properties, the interiors strike a rare balance between contemporary luxury and warmth.

Textured walls, layered neutral palettes and beautifully crafted timber ceilings create spaces that feel residential rather than corporate. The materiality throughout the suites is exceptional — tactile, calming and unmistakably expensive without ever feeling showy. There is also a level of functionality often missing in luxury resorts. The bathrooms in the suites have two access doors.

Bose speakers are seamlessly integrated into the rooms. Dyson hairdryers are included both within suites and wellness facilities. Lighting scenes are intuitive and soft rather than overly technological.

The bathrooms are particularly striking — oversized textured sanctuaries with deep wooden soaking tubs with designs carved on the outside, walled textured tiles, wooden ceilings over the showers, expansive wardrobes and carefully considered layouts that make longer stays feel effortless.

Several suites offer direct lagoon pool access from vast private decks, creating the atmosphere of a secluded villa while retaining full hotel services. Others open directly toward the Indian Ocean, with uninterrupted ocean views and immediate beach access. And then there are the details guests rarely forget.

Unlimited complimentary laundry is included — a genuinely luxurious offering that becomes increasingly valuable during longer stays and something surprisingly rare even at the highest level of hospitality globally.

The Regent Club at Regent Bali Canggu

Regent Club: Unlimited Champagne and Cocktails

Rating: 10/10

Club lounges globally have become increasingly inconsistent, often feeling more transactional than genuinely luxurious. The Regent Club completely reverses that trend.

Guests staying within Regent Club categories are offered free-flow champagne, premium cocktails and elevated dining presentations throughout the day, from breakfast to day time snacks and cakes and pre dinner food with cocktails in an environment that feels intimate, elegant and genuinely indulgent.

Importantly, it never feels crowded or staged. Arrival drinks are offered with or without alcohol. Food is served on a striking marble table and fridges around have everything form multi flavoured kambucha to whie, red and sparkling wines and champagne . The experience mirrors the discreet sophistication of leading international luxury hotels in cities like Singapore, Paris or Tokyo. The service standard here is exceptional.

Food & Beverage: Michelin-Starred Dining Arrives in Canggu

Rating: 10/10

Luxury travellers increasingly expect hotel dining to operate at standalone international standards — and Regent Bali Canggu understands this completely and in turn has elevated the entire dining scene in Bali, as the island has not seen an installation quite like these two restaurants in recent years.

The culinary program is overseen by Michelin-starred chef Andrew Walsh, whose acclaimed Singapore restaurant CURE is located on Keong Saik Road and remains one of Singapore’s most respected fine dining venues.

At Regent Bali Canggu, Walsh leads two concepts: CURE and Sazón. Both are already positioning themselves among Bali’s most exciting restaurants.

CURE delivers refined contemporary ocean front dining with technical precision and sophistication, from incredible duck dishes to tuna crudo and a chocolate dessert. The bar is as stylish as it is fabulous. Getting a table here is the only challenge as everyone in Bali wants to be there – and no wonder.

Walsh’s second venue, Sazón offers a more energetic Spanish-inspired concept layered with fire cooking, vibrant flavours and coastal European influences. Importantly, neither restaurant feels like “hotel food” at all. They feel globally relevant and the food is exquisite – and surprising for Bali.

The Beach House is equally impressive and feels like a private club. In a destination saturated with beach clubs, Regent’s stands apart through restraint, style and polish. The atmosphere feels distinctly Mediterranean — sophisticated rather than chaotic, elegant rather than performative. There are bean bags and lounges overlooking the sea and there is a swimming pool directly in front. Multiple champagnes are sold by the bottle.

The details again become the story. Cappuccinos at the beach bar arrive with striking red and gold square Regent-branded chocolates. Poolside staff quietly deliver ice blocks each day in the afternoon heat, ensuring a different flavour is made daily, coconut was my favourite. Cocktails are beautifully balanced rather than overly theatrical.

Breakfast deserves particular mention. The extensive buffet is among Bali’s best, due to the quality of the food on offer, layered with premium international selections alongside a substantial à la carte menu.

Yet perhaps the smartest luxury touch is something surprisingly rare globally: all-day breakfast on the a la carte menu, something Australian travellers will applaud. At Regent Bali Canggu, guests can order breakfast whenever they want — a thoughtful acknowledgement of jet lag, wellness schedules and modern luxury travel habits.

Wellness: Where Southeast Asian Healing Meets Science

Rating: 10/10

Wellness at Regent Bali Canggu feels intelligent and truly thought through rather than trend-driven. Instead of leaning heavily into performative spirituality or aggressive biohacking, the resort blends traditional Balinese healing rituals with modern recovery science in ways that feel sophisticated and deeply restorative.

The spa journey begins with guided breath work sessions via headphones in a solo indoor/outdoor pod before treatments commence — helping regulate the nervous system and prepare the body for deeper relaxation and recovery.

From there, treatments integrate Southeast Asian and Balinese massage techniques alongside science-backed wellness modalities including cryo-inspired facial masks, red light therapy and advanced recovery experiences.

The wellness facilities themselves are exceptional:

  • ice baths
  • hot plunge pools
  • saunas
  • high-performance techno fitness facilities
  • recovery-focused thermal experiences

Again, the attention to detail elevates everything. Dyson hairdryers appear in changing rooms. Lighting is soft and restorative. Lockers are modern and easy to access. Service feels warm and intuitive rather than scripted. Herbal teas are served after treatments.

Increasingly, affluent travellers are becoming highly educated and experienced around wellness — and Regent Bali Canggu feels designed for that next generation of luxury traveller.

Wellness is even an aspect of the rooms and suites, with baths taking centre stage, and bath salts replaced daily, separate showers which are massively oversized.

The toiletries at Regent Bali Canggu are Sodashi, an Australian, ultra-premium natural skincare brand and sits at the very top end of spa and hotel amenities globally. It’s used in a very select group of luxury properties and is known for: 100% natural, chemical-free formulations, spa-grade skincare (not just standard hotel amenities), strong aromatherapy influence, a very refined, wellness-led positioning.

It’s also significantly more expensive than most hotel bathroom brands, which makes it a strong signal of the Regent’s positioning — this isn’t just a luxury hotel, it’s leaning heavily into serious wellness credibility.

Service: 10/10

Service at Regent Bali Canggu is quietly exceptional — intuitive, warm and delivered with a level of attention that feels both personal and effortless.

There is a natural ease to the way the team engages, striking the balance between presence and discretion that defines true luxury. Nothing feels scripted or overly formal; instead, interactions are genuine, thoughtful and consistently anticipatory.

Check in for suite and villa guests is at The Regent Club, and guests are offered an alcoholic or non-alcoholic welcome drink as well as snacks. This level of choice and thoughtfulness is so often lacking at check in.

What stood out most was the team’s willingness to go beyond the expected. During my stay, I realised I had lost my iPhone headphones — a small detail, but an inconvenient one when travelling. Without hesitation, the staff took it upon themselves to source a replacement, arranging for them to be delivered directly to the hotel with remarkable speed and ease. It was handled seamlessly, without fuss, and with a genuine desire to resolve the situation rather than simply acknowledge it.

Breakfast staff remember coffee orders.

This is where Regent Bali Canggu truly distinguishes itself. It’s not just about polished service delivery, but about a mindset — a culture of ownership and care that ensures even the smallest details are handled in a way that enhances the overall experience.

Combined with thoughtful touches throughout the stay, the service feels less like a function and more like a quiet, ongoing gesture of hospitality — one that leaves a lasting impression.

The Regent Bali Canggu Spa Crystal Bed

Manish Puri, General Manager of Regent Bali Canggu, brings a quiet confidence and depth of experience that is clearly reflected in the rhythm of the property and can be seen chatting to guests and walking around daily. There is a sense of precision and intentionality throughout the hotel that rarely happens by accident, and it speaks to leadership that understands both the mechanics of luxury and the emotional layer that sits beneath it.

His approach feels modern and globally informed, yet grounded enough to allow the property’s Balinese setting to come through authentically. The result is a hotel that feels cohesive, considered and highly tuned to the expectations of today’s luxury traveller — where every detail, from service to design, appears carefully orchestrated rather than imposed

Regent Bali Canggu represents something larger than another Bali luxury hotel opening. It signals a return to classic South East Asian luxury hospitality — one grounded not in excess, but in precision, generosity and extraordinary attention to detail.

The suites are among Bali’s finest. The dining program is internationally competitive. The wellness offering intelligently merges ancient healing with modern science. And the service standard throughout the resort is operating at a level still surprisingly rare in Bali.

Most importantly, Regent Bali Canggu delivers something many luxury hotels struggle to create: A genuine sense of occasion and calm.

Regent Bali Canggu, Renae says:

Who should Stay here: Anyone who loves South East Asian indulgence, Michelin standard food at bargain prices, hotel rooms and suites you don’t want to leave, and high end wellness.

Who shouldn’t Stay Here: Anyone who loves luxury will love this.

Location: In Bali’s Canggu, right on the ocean front over 6 hectares.

Best culinary delight: I love Michelin chef Andrew Walsh’s duck dish at CURE, bursting with sweet flavour and perfectly cooked duck, but I also enjoyed his tuna crudo at Saizon.

The Highlight:  The incredible full body massage with a liquid face support whilst I was face down – best hour of my life in a long time.

The lowlight: Fighting for a seat at the Beach House, it is so popular and everyone reserves their favourite place.

Insider Knowledge: The coffee at The Beach Club overlooking the ocean with a decadent Regent Chocolate is the best way to start the day at Regent Bali Canggu.
