Designed by the talented and eccentric landscape architect Bill Bensley, the property is as surprising and luxuriously high end as you can get.
Mark Swinton is the General Manager at the extraordinary luxury tented camp, Capella Ubud in Bali. The exclusive property was named as the number one hotel in the world in 2020 by Travel & Leisure Magazine’s readers, and is the very essence of tropical luxury.
In his role, Mark oversees sustainability and business development at the prestigious property and is steering it through these changing times. He has had a stellar career for over 30 years at the top end of luxury hotels, and has worked for some of the world’s most prestigious brands.
He talks openly here and gives insights into his decade long stint with Aman Resorts, the group’s owner Vladislav Doronin, as well as his time with Six Senses Hotels Resort and Spas and now as GM of Capella Ubud.
The Canadian is passionate about luxury and equally passionate about sustainability and conservation, plus he adores Bali, a location he keeps returning to. This is a great interview with a lot of insights into the world of luxury travel.
