Travelling to Kuala Lumpur? You Must Stay at The Hilton

One of the most critical aspects of a stay in a busy Asian city is location, and luxury, and The Hilton Hotel in Kuala Lumpur has it in spades.

I’m not sure what I liked most about my stay at The Hilton in Kuala Lumpur; the gorgeous swimming pool, the opulent executive lounge with complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea and unlimited wine and snacks in the evening, or the luxe marble bath overlooking the city in my corner room.

KL is the kind of city where you need a haven to retreat to after a big day out, and The Hilton Hotel is fresh, modern, and in the right location. The features I love above are just the start.

I have to be honest and declare I used to live in Kuala Lumpur, so I do tend to see this crowded, dusty, unglamorous Asian city though rose tinted glasses, and The Hilton only added to my amazing experience. KL is crowded, hectic and a bit all over the place, it always has been.

I got quite a surprise when I ventured into the city, as the amount of commercial construction has been significant, rendering the city almost unrecognisable from when I lived there 18 years ago. There are loads of new shopping centres, restaurants and night life.

But whether you are there for work or leisure, getting around is the biggest challenge – much like Bangkok, although Bangkok is  probably a bit worse. So staying in the right location is critical to avoid sitting in cars for hours at a time.

One of the most convenient aspects of The KL Hilton is that the train (stopping at Sentral) drops you almost at the hotel’s main entrance, and you can catch the train directly from the airport and in 28 minutes, you’re there, avoiding potentially huge delays sitting in traffic.

Plus KL can storm a lot, and when it does, it buckets rain. At The Hilton you can move around under cover from the hotel to the station, to your meetings or shopping centres very easily.

The hotel was recently renovated, so rooms are spacious and modern and have Hilton Serenity beds as well as expansive floor to ceiling windows overlooking the city so the entire hotel is filled with light. The gym is excellent, fitted with everything you need for a proper workout including weights machines and cardio equipment, and space to spread out.

I like the idea of not having to leave the hotel I am staying in, and that’s the case here, plus The Hotel Meridien is right next door – the entrances sit opposite one another, so if you feel like mixing it up, you only have to walk a few metres.

If you want to cut out some stress and enjoy a few rare luxe touches and experiences in KL, and stay here.
