Mandarin Oriental General Manager Andrew Abram speaks to Renae about his incredibly successful career in the world of luxury hotels globally.

Andrew Abram has a CV littered with luxury hotel openings and developments. He has worked in some of the world’s most upscale hotels, and worked alongside some of the most well known names in hospitality.

Here as General Manager of one of Jakarta’s most loved five star hotels, The Mandarin Oriental, he opens up about many incredible chapters in his working life, from launching the glittering brand Dubai as the first General Manager of the prestigious Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai, and about working alongside Jamie Oliver in London.

He talks about his colourful life living all over the world as a General Manager living full time within a five star hotel, and compares luxury products and hotels in the western world with the East.

He also shares the challenges and joys of living and working in the middle east, as well as Asia as a Scotsman.

He confirms there is a super luxe echelon of South east Asian society as depicted in Crazy, Rich Asians, and says he sees a huge future in Indonesia for luxury hotels, developments and travel.
