Just in case you need another excuse to go to London, The Londoner, the world’s first super boutique hotel has opened in the West End, and it looks incredible.
The Londoner is being branded as the world’s first super boutique hotel, a 16 storey purpose built urban resort located in Leicester Square promising sustainable luxury.
Curated Artworks, leading technology and a design focused on natural light, the hotel is eclectic, yet calming.
It feels part club, part hotel with live performances, multiple drinks and dining spaces as well as considerable square meterage dedicated to holistic pursuits including a pool, indoor/outdoor fitness space and separate gym.
Located in the heart of London’s West End, it is in the middle of the city’s dining, arts and cultural hub, yet provides an urban escape right in the heart of the action.
A unique feature of the hotel is The Residence, a private club-like section of the hotel divided into three strikingly decorated spaces with a distant British feel. The whole area is exclusively for use by in-house hotel guests.
The spectacularly new, fresh, airy, modern and vibrant property includes a rooftop izakaya lounge that celebrates informal traditions and the vibrant yet subtle style of Japanese dining as well as five other concept dining experiences and a cinema.
There is Joshua’s Tavern, warm and inviting with a neighbourhood feel, and the hotel’s elegant and stylishly upmarket signature restaurant, Whitcombs.
There are 350 guest rooms and suites, with striking floor to ceiling windows, which create a warmth and openness in all of London’s changing seasons rarely seen in London hotels.
There is fastidious attention to detail within the interiors of the hotel, with carefully curated artworks and the latest technology within each room and suite including heated Japanese toilet seats.
A subterranean wellness floor The Retreat is one of the hotel’s major highlights. It as bold and striking in design as it is calming. The entire floor is dedicated to holistic health and wellness.
With a huge pool, hydrofoil pool, hair and beauty salon, gym and Refuel Clinic, it offers everything to the health-focused guest including a cutting edge, modern dining haven for superfood refuels and energy charged, heathy drinks.
Plus The Courtyard in the heart of the hotel has an indoor/outdoor space for daily yoga and fitness classes.
Built by the family owned group Edwardian Hotels, The Londoner employs pioneering methods of sustainable luxury and secured a £175 million Green Loan from HSBC UK, a first for the hospitality sector.
The hotel has six levels below ground, some 30 metres deep, making it the deepest habitable grade commercial building basement in London and amongst the deepest in the world.
From inception, planning, designing, building, the developers future-proofed the concept of The Londoner whilst driving change in the area of sustainability by installing new processes as well as technologies during the hotel’s development.
