Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok’s GM Patrick Both is leading the way in Southeast Asia in terms of luxury for millennials. Here he talks about the future of luxury hotels in Southeast Asia, and of luxury travel.
Patrick Both is General Manager of one of South East Asia’s most modern luxury five star hotels, the Kimpton, Maa-Lai.
This property is the South East Asian flagship of the Kimpton group. In many ways the group and this property is redefining the definition of luxury hotels for millennials. The hotel is uniquely designed with natural light, and multiple instagrammable locations to ensure it is heavily featured on social media.
Local artist’s work is placed strategically around the hotel to add life and creativity to the many open spaces. It is located within glorious, manicured gardens where guests can sit and work, eat or play all day if they like.
WFH is a focus both inside and outside the rooms, as is affordable but high level F&B, and free drinks for in-house guests for an hour every day.
There is an open door pet policy – where as long as your pet fits in the elevator it can stay with you free of charge.
And there is a full pet menu including cream just for pets. The menu in the many food outlets is affordable and fabulously modern, and the outlets are usually all full.
Both has lived in Bangkok for some years operating various five star properties and is now cluster area manager overseeing multiple properties within the group.
Here he talks candidly to Renae about luxury hotels and luxury travel, his fitness routine and how to create and run one of the most modern five star luxury hotels in South East Asia.
