We go inside the Mandarin Oriental, Hyde Park, London with General Manager Torsten Van Dullemen.

Torsten Van Dullemen, is General Manager of the prestigious Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park in Knightsbridge in London. He is Vice President of Operations and Group Director Of Sustainability at the prestigious property.

The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park enjoys one of London’s best locations steps away from Harrods and sitting opposite beautiful Hyde Park where the King’s horses exercise most mornings directly in front of the hotel’s breakfast room windows.

The group will open a second hotel in London, this time in another extraordinary location, in Mayfair.

It sits within Knightsbridge one of London’s most elegant and walkable areas packed with restaurants, coffee shops and shopping.

Mr Torsten Van Dullemen is well established hotelier, and a man of many skills and many adventures within multiple luxury hotels throughout his prestigious career leading luxury five star hotels globally.

He has held high level positions with the Mandarin Oriental Group in Washington, Hong Kong, Manila, Chiang Mai and Bangkok as well as with Oberoi in India. He is also a member of MENSA, and a Dutch national, he speaks six languages.

Interestingly he has a long history with the prestigious Mandarin Oriental Hotel London as he began his career there as a management trainee, and went on to become food and beverage manager in the early years of his career.

He then rejoined as Hotel Manager in 2004-2007 and then again as General Manager and Vice President Of Operations in 2009.

The hotel has an award-winning spa and fabulous dining choices from two-Michelin starred Dinner by Heston Blumenthal and Japanese izakaya at The Aubrey.

The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park boasts a breakfast room overlooking Hyde Park in Knightsbridge.

The hotel’s rooms and suites were redesigned as part of the most-extensive multi-million-pound restoration, by internationally lauded hotel designer Joyce Wang, based between Hong Kong and London.

Torsten talks here with Renae about the exciting new Mandarin Oriental Hotel opening in London’s Mayfair in 2023, and his own prestigious career journey, as well as his passion for luxury hotels.
