Nestled in the heart of Milan, Hotel Principe di Savoia, a member of the esteemed Dorchester Collection, stands as a beacon of neoclassical luxury.

With a legacy spanning nearly a century, this iconic luxury five star hotel blends the intimacy of a boutique establishment with the grandeur of a large-scale luxury hotel.

Hotel Principe di Savoia presents a luxurious escape in the heart of Milan, combining historical elegance, modern amenities, exceptional service, and a commitment to sustainability.

Whether indulging in the sumptuous dining options, unwinding in the lavish rooms, or exploring the vibrant city, guests are assured of an experience that epitomises the best of Milanese luxury.

Often Italian artists are showcased within the lobby, bringing fresh energy to the hotel and a renewed sense of modern artistic style.

I adore this hotel and have been lucky enough to stay three times in the past two years. It is elegant, luxurious and always attracts glamorous, global and interesting guests. Small pets are allowed which just gives the hotel added warmth.

Rooms: 9/10

The opulent rooms and suites at Hotel Principe di Savoia are a blend of late-19th-century elegance and modern comforts. Aqua De Parma Products in the bathrooms are a luxury indulgence.

Lavish damasks, rich colours, and collectors’ antiques create a regal atmosphere, while contemporary technology ensures a stay that is both luxurious and convenient. Despite the hotel’s large size and location at a busy junction, rooms are exceptionally quiet due to insulation and sound-proof windows.

The fresh marble and mosaic bathrooms are particularly attractive, featuring an elegant cream and white design and Acqua di Parma toiletries.

The rooms, adorned with sumptuous fabrics and elegant furniture, offer a tranquil retreat in the bustling city of Milan. House keeping is first class and staff regularly service the rooms – and there is turn down.

Service: 9.5/10

The hotel prides itself on its exceptional service, with a concierge team that embodies the ethos of “your wish is our command.”

From the warm welcome at the door to the meticulous attention to detail in every aspect of service, guests are assured of a memorable and personalised experience. The concierge team booked multiple restaurants and outings for me which made my stay so much easier.

Food and Beverage: 9/10

The hotel’s bar is a long-standing favourite among celebrities and locals, with a sculpted crystal bar and back-lit mirrored wall. Drinks are fabulous and the room is something to savour and enjoy every night.

Dining at Hotel Principe di Savoia is an experience in itself, with the acclaimed Acanto restaurant offering an incredible array of sweet and savory delights. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available here and I enjoyed the outdoor terrace section.

Breakfast is an event, and features a huge array of Italian and international delights from fresh cured meats and cheese to salads, cereal, yoghurts, cooked breakfast and more. The coffee is excellent. The chef personally selects produce from farms and local producers to create seasonal traditional dishes with a contemporary touch.

The in-room dining, featuring signature dishes from across the Dorchester Collection, adds a unique touch to the culinary offerings.

The lobster club from the Taste of the Dorchester menu is a highlight, showcasing the expertise and creativity of the hotel’s culinary team. There is an excellent selection of wines on the room service menu too. And there is a room service menu featuring Dorchester menu items from all 12 hotels within the Dorchester Collection which is excellent.

The lobby has its own coffee shop where a glass of prosecco, lunch a snack or meetings can be done over small meals.

The style of Hotel Principe di Savoia is Italian Opulence.

Style and Character: 9/10

The hotel’s style is a harmonious blend of historical grandeur and modern sophistication.

The interiors, decorated with elegant floor-to-ceiling windows, glass panels, and original cornicing, are complemented by 18th-century-style decorative features, creating a space that is both timelessly elegant and distinctly contemporary.

While embracing its rich history, Hotel Principe di Savoia also focuses on sustainability, incorporating environmentally friendly practices and technologies.

This commitment to sustainability is evident in every aspect of the hotel’s operations, ensuring that luxury and eco-consciousness go hand in hand.

Wellness: 8.5/10

The rooftop Club 10 spa is a haven of relaxation and rejuvenation. Offering beauty treatments, saunas, a heated swimming pool, and panoramic views of the city, the spa is a highlight of the hotel’s wellness facilities. I had a massage that was exceptional after a long haul flight.

The gym, equipped with top-range equipment, and the outdoor terrace facing the Porta Nuova District, further enhance the wellness experience, so you can workout with designer views. Couples enjoyed coffees on the terrace after their workouts the mornings I was there.
