COMO Metropolitan London Review: A Tranquil Haven Amid City Buzz

COMO Metropolitan London welcomes you with the crisp aroma of eucalyptus and peppermint, the signature fragrance of COMO hotels and resorts globally.

Profound stillness follows, even through expansive floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the rush of taxis and crowds on Park Lane, the lively divide from 350-acre Hyde Park across the road.

This elegant boutique hotel, one of two London spots in the COMO collection, embodies founder Christina Ong’s vision—a key global figure in lifestyle and hospitality with a background curating luxury worldwide.

COMO Metropolitan London offers sleek modernity in upscale Mayfair, attracting families, couples, professionals, and performers during Hyde Park summer events. Ong’s touch emphasises balanced stays blending Asian calm with urban polish, from custom scents through public areas to warm arrival towels.

The newly opened LaBombe by Trivet is a huge draw card at the hotel. This relaxed wine-focussed sister restaurant to the two Michelin starred Trivet has a dedicated entrance as well as an internal one for hotel guests and offers some of London’s most creative wines and cocktails as well as clean, fulfilling and a great night out whether for a simple snack and a glass or a full blown meal.

The hotel’s other restaurant Nobu, is one of the world’s best for Japanese and draws a upscale crowd.

Overall Rating: 8/10

Location (9.5/10)

Nestled on vibrant Park Lane, the hotel feels serenely detached despite its buzz. A short stroll reaches three grand parks—Hyde, Green, and St. James’s—plus the Serpentine Gallery, Buckingham Palace, high-end Oxford and Bond Street shops, and Piccadilly Circus energy.

This prime Mayfair position delivers accessibility without chaos, enhanced by free fast internet throughout and valet service. Bond street station is a 20 minute walk away as are the plethora of fabulous London shops which are essential to visit during a London stay.

Whether plotting park wanders, shopping extravaganzas or city rambles, the spot maximises London exploration in any weather, earning top marks for convenience and calm.

Rooms at COMO Metropolitan London are modern and well lit

Rooms: (9.5/10)

The 144 rooms and suites glow with daylight from massive windows, featuring streamlined shapes, soft whites with sunny yellow and gentle walnut accents for uncluttered peace. King beds with 400-thread-count sheets promise deep rest; smart storage conceals luggage and lights.

We stayed in a first floor suite overlooking the park which was stunning, especially after a long flight from Sydney. The room was flooded with natural light and had two separate areas so we had plenty of space to unpack and unwind.

Bedside screens control climate, lighting, drapes, and privacy. Big screens stream movies, music, and yoga—ideal post-travel. Free coffee makers and teas stock every space, suites adding wine, fruit, and treats.

Baths feature rain showers and nurturing COMO products for ritualistic ease. One of the joys of travelling between multiple COMO properties is the consistency of bath products, and hotel fragrances so everything feels warmly familiar.

Park Suites shine with panoramic Hyde Park views, dual glass, and private terraces.

COMO Metropolitan Reception

Wellness: (9.5/10)

Wellness anchors the stay with the COMO Shambhala Urban Escape offering therapies in six spaces: deep Shiatsu and Thai rubs, nurturing facials, cleansing baths, foot work, and needle sessions for full harmony.

Healthy Shambhala bites—light, diet-friendly including plant-based and gluten-free—arrive via 24/7 room service, alongside classics.

The round-the-clock fitness area includes weights, suspension gear, runners, and trainers. Yoga via sessions or TV keeps flows accessible; small pets join free.

Families thrive with kid menus, free rollaways for young ones, and childcare options, blending adult serenity with welcoming warmth.

Wellness at COMO Metropolitan London

Sustainability: (8.5/10)

Guided by Ong’s forward ethos, COMO prioritises gentle impacts through regional, ethical sourcing in dishes and fresh, earth-based menus supporting local makers.

Plant-forward choices and low-key resource focus align with broader care, though details on energy or waste stay subtle. This thoughtful base elevates stays without fanfare, rewarding conscious travelers.

Dining and Design: (9.0/10)

Dining blends worldly flair with mindful picks. Nobu is within the hotel, and was the original restaurant in Europe, when it opened in 1997. Located on the first floor, it has views over Hyde Park and Old Park Lane, and brings in a regular celebrity clientele.

Famous for pioneering “new style” Japanese, the menu blends classic Japanese techniques with bold Peruvian ingredients and flavours.

Newcomer La Bombe, is built around the concept that wine is never an after thought, and fresh ingredients and simplified dishes are the key to a great dining experience. LaBomne has a kitchen centred on a grill and a massive glass encased wine cellar shows using over 1000 bottles.

Breakfast is fabulous and is served on the first floor overlooking the park. There is a small but healthy buffet and an a la caret menu with fresh healthy offerings – all in the theme of COMO hotels.

Service 9/10

Service at COMO Metropolitan London is consistently warm, discreet and highly personalised, striking a thoughtful balance between efficiency and genuine care.

Staff greet guests by name, remember preferences, and move quickly to resolve even minor requests, whether that’s tailoring wellness treatments, arranging last-minute restaurant bookings or smoothing out travel logistics.

The atmosphere is relaxed rather than formal, yet attention to detail is meticulous: arrivals feel unhurried, turndown is precise, and concierge recommendations are tailored to individual tastes rather than pulled from a standard list.

Overall, the service style quietly underpins the hotel’s wellness-focused ethos, making stays feel both effortless and deeply considered.
