25 Hours Oddbird Jakarta Review; Inside Jakarta’s Most Talked-About New Luxury Hotel

Pinterest LinkedIn

Why 25hours The Oddbird Jakarta is redefining luxury hospitality in Southeast Asia with bold design, South American dining and world-class wellness.

For years, Jakarta has remained one of Asia’s most misunderstood travel destinations.

Business travellers knew its power restaurants, extraordinary cocktail scene and quietly exceptional luxury hotels well. But internationally, Indonesia’s capital rarely generated the same design or hospitality conversation as Bangkok, Singapore or Hong Kong. That is beginning to change.

And much of that shift is embodied by 25hours Hotel The Oddbird Jakarta — the first 25hours hotel in Southeast Asia and arguably one of the most exciting lifestyle luxury hotel openings the region has seen in years.

This is not traditional luxury hospitality. Nor is it another interchangeable five-star tower chasing minimalist restraint. Instead, 25hours Hotel The Oddbird Jakarta delivers something increasingly valuable in global hospitality: personality. This is art meets community, meets creative design with fun at every turn. In a word, this hotel is joy, energy, excitement with wow factor.

A striking living room within a suite

The hotel is immersive, cinematic and unapologetically playful — a design-driven property that feels more New York than South East Asia, where world-class wellness, exceptional dining and serious luxury coexist with humour, art and storytelling. And in a luxury hotel landscape increasingly saturated with sameness, it feels refreshingly original.

The bar design is stunning with massive 8 metre timber ceilings, layered fabrics, dramatic, artistic birds flying overhead, and extraordinary cocktails being served. Every night when I was there, guests and locals were both there – it is the kind of hotel that cannot help but create a vibe. It is theatrical without really trying to be.

The hotel’s beautifully curated 25h Things Shop perfectly captures the playful yet highly design-conscious spirit of 25hours Hotel The Oddbird Jakarta. Far more than a standard hotel gift store, the boutique feels like an extension of the hotel’s creative personality, filled with fabulously eclectic pieces, exclusive merchandise and locally crafted finds that guests genuinely want to take home.

Outdoor dining at Copa

From stylish umbrellas and signature fragrances through to art books, plush toys, wearable pieces and quirky memorabilia inspired by the hotel itself, the space feels immersive, fun and unmistakably “Oddbird.” The hotel also showcases products from local artists and artisans, reinforcing the property’s strong connection to Jakarta’s creative culture and design scene.

The brand 25 hours hotels is originally out of Germany, and has built its reputation on doing the opposite of traditional luxury, but somehow it has maintained the polish bit injected a lot of life and personality.

Location: 10/10

At the Centre of Jakarta’s New Luxury Landscape

Location matters enormously in Jakarta. Traffic can define the rhythm of an entire stay, making proximity to the city’s best restaurants, shopping and nightlife essential for luxury travellers.

25hours Hotel The Oddbird Jakarta is exceptionally positioned within the capital’s thriving Sudirman Central Business District, placing guests directly inside one of the city’s most dynamic lifestyle precincts.

The hotel also offers something unusually convenient for Jakarta: dual access points, including a direct private entrance into Ashta District 8 — one of the city’s most sophisticated luxury lifestyle destinations.

More than simply a shopping centre, Ashta has evolved into a curated cultural hub filled with high-end dining, designer boutiques, artisan cafés, wellness brands and stylish concept stores. Brands from La Labo to Arabica Coffee and rotating art displays are all here. Guests can move seamlessly between the hotel and the precinct without stepping outside — an enormous advantage in Jakarta’s tropical climate.

Beyond the hotel itself, there are literally hundreds of bars and restaurants, many of the city’s best restaurants, bars and nightlife venues sit within walking distance, making the property feel deeply connected to Jakarta’s rapidly evolving social and culinary energy.

Where Luxury Hospitality Meets Theatre

Few hotels arriving in Asia today possess this level of visual confidence. Designed by Berlin-based creative powerhouse Studio Aisslinger — internationally recognised for experiential hospitality projects across Europe and the Middle East — the property feels less like a conventional hotel and more like a fully immersive world.

The design language is bold, layered, surprising and intentionally unconventional. Towering sculptural birds descend dramatically from ceilings. Corridors are lined with eclectic artefacts and curiosities. Rich textures, oversized installations and unexpected visual moments create an atmosphere that feels simultaneously luxurious and entertaining.

Importantly, the property never slips into gimmickry. Beneath the theatricality sits genuine design intelligence.Natural light abounds, bringing energy and life into every floor and space.

The hotel balances humour and sophistication with remarkable precision — something many lifestyle hotels attempt but very few achieve successfully. Every public space feels instagrammable without appearing to be designed purely for social media.

The lobby alone resembles a contemporary art installation. And throughout the hotel, there is an unmistakable sense of movement, discovery and playfulness that gives the property extraordinary energy.

Rooms & Suites: 10/10

Sophisticated, Spacious and Deeply Residential

The guest rooms at 25hours Hotel The Oddbird Jakarta are among the most stylish currently available in the city.

Guests can choose between two distinct interior concepts: Garden rooms layered with lush botanical influences and natural textures, or Urban rooms built around elegant blue tones inspired by Jakarta’s skyline and metropolitan energy.

Both concepts feel warm, tactile and genuinely luxurious. Unlike many design-led hotels where aesthetics compromise comfort, the rooms here remain deeply functional and highly liveable.

Suites are particularly impressive, featuring expansive lounge areas separate from oversized bedrooms, creating the atmosphere of a sophisticated private apartment rather than a standard hotel suite.

The bathrooms are equally striking — dramatic white marble spaces anchored by freestanding bathtubs, oversized vanities, huge mirrors and beautifully integrated lighting. Brilliant when applying makeup as every centimetre can be seen.

Throughout the rooms, the detailing feels intentional rather than excessive. Materials are rich without becoming heavy. Technology is integrated subtly. Lighting remains soft and calming. Bikes are a theme with every room having one somewhere and bikes for rent downstairs, although cycling in Jakarta could be dangerous! Record players add a retro touch too – and they work and vinyls are provided.

The property also offers extended-stay apartment accommodation catering to longer business visits, although the hotel rooms themselves remain the stronger expression of the brand’s extraordinary design identity. The apartments are decored in white and cream, with striking marble bathrooms.

One of Jakarta’s Best South American Restaurants

The culinary program at 25hours Hotel The Oddbird Jakarta significantly exceeds expectations for a lifestyle hotel. Breakfast is a huge buffet with everything from pastries to aloe vera yoghurt, Asian soups made to order, eggs and more.

Its signature restaurant, COPA, has rapidly established itself as one of Jakarta’s most exciting dining destinations and one of Southeast Asia’s strongest South American-inspired restaurants. Led by Chilean chef Matías Mardones, the restaurant delivers vibrant Latin American flavours layered with technical precision and contemporary elegance.

The steaks are exceptional — among the best currently served in Jakarta — while the broader menu moves confidently through ceviches, grilled seafood, fire cooking and bold South American flavours. But what truly elevates COPA is atmosphere and design. The restaurant feels alive.

Its outdoor terrace, surrounded by dense tropical planting and overlooking the city skyline, creates one of Jakarta’s most atmospheric dining environments — particularly as evening falls and the city begins to glow beneath the hotel. Breakfast is equally memorable.

Rather than defaulting to predictable international luxury buffet formulas, the morning offering incorporates strong South American influences rarely seen within luxury hotels across Asia. The result feels distinctive, energetic and genuinely reflective of the property’s identity.

The hotel’s bar is brilliant. Great cocktails and quality Chilean wines by the glass and a great selection of bottles. a small snack menu works for a quick bite before dinner.

There is a great casual food outlet next to the pool – perfect for slow afternoons which offers sandwiches, salads and snacks. The all you can eat Sunday Brunch is sure to become an institution, it is fresh, diverse and opulent – and very well priced at about $55 AUD. For another $40 AUD there is unlimited alcohol including sparkling Chandon.

Wellness: 10/10

One of Jakarta’s Best Luxury Hotel Wellness Experiences

Where 25hours Hotel The Oddbird Jakarta truly distinguishes itself from many global lifestyle brands is wellness.

This is not a token spa and fitness centre added as an afterthought. The wellness facilities here are serious and well designed. The General Manager Michael Gaehler previously worked at one of the world’s leading wellness facilities, Clinique La Prairie and its clear his experience has shaped the calibre of equipment and design here.

The infinity pool alone is spectacular — positioned high above the city with sweeping panoramic views across a dramatically different side of Jakarta than most luxury hotels reveal. At sunset, it becomes one of the most visually striking pool environments in the city.

Adjacent wellness areas include ice baths overlooking the skyline, creating a recovery experience more commonly associated with elite private wellness clubs than urban lifestyle hotels. The spa itself is ambitious, calming and highly contemporary.

Guests have access to:

  • hyperbaric oxygen chamber therapy
  • advanced recovery treatments
  • exceptional massages
  • performance facials
  • sauna facilities
  • ice baths and thermal wellness experiences

The integration of science-backed recovery with luxury hospitality reflects precisely where global wellness travel is heading.

Then there is the gym — arguably Jakarta’s best hotel fitness facility. Every six months a new piece of equipment is brought in depending in what staff feel the clients are looking for.

This results in a gym filled with premium equipment, so that the space feels closer to a private performance club than a traditional hotel gym.

For travellers prioritising longevity, recovery and wellness while travelling, the offering here is remarkably strong.

Service: 10/10

Service is another area where 25hours Hotel The Oddbird Jakarta quietly excels. While the hotel’s bold design and social energy initially capture attention, it is the warmth and gentleness of the staff that ultimately leave the strongest impression.

This shines particularly brightly within the wellness centre and during breakfast service, where the team approach guests with a calm, intuitive kindness that feels genuinely heartfelt rather than overly scripted.

Whether guiding guests through the wellness facilities, remembering preferences or simply creating a softer slower atmosphere amid Jakarta’s fast pace, the service consistently feels thoughtful, warm and deeply human — something increasingly rare in highly design-driven lifestyle hotels.

25 Hours Oddbird Jakarta, Renae says:

Who should Stay here: Anyone who loves a unique luxury hotel with extraordinary value for money in a bustling urban location with everything you could wish for close by.Anyone who loves South East Asian service, luxury and indulgence will love this hotel.

Who shouldn’t Stay Here: Guests who want nature, this is a truly urban location.

Location: In the best possible location in Jakarta for accessing the best shopping, food, bars and CBD.

Best culinary delight: The hummus here is outstanding, but the steaks are unforgettable – wow. The meat is sourced from Western Australia making the flavour truly unique.

The Highlight:  The hyperbaric oxygen session followed by a massage, and a swim – the wellness offering is world class and what a luxury to have it on site.

The lowlight: Breakfast finishes too early for me – at 1030.

Insider Knowledge: For protein focussed guests, the chicken with cashew nuts and broccoli at breakfast is outstanding. And the hotel has a fabulously unique fragrance and that same brand has several fragrances that can be bought in the hotel’s shop.

As the first 25hours property in Southeast Asia, the hotel successfully introduces the brand’s irreverent creative spirit while simultaneously delivering genuine five-star substance — from exceptional wellness and sophisticated dining to beautifully designed suites and one of Jakarta’s most compelling social atmospheres.

Most importantly, the hotel captures something increasingly rare in modern luxury hospitality, a genuine sense of joy.
