It is a five star hotel in the heart of Singapore which literally has plants and plantations growing all over the facade of the hotel creating a unique green house effect that is as elegant and calming as it is sustainable.

The lobby has towering ceilings and even when I walked in, the unique garden-like oasis feel was evident. Pots filled with greenery sit atop check in counters and around the property. at all height levels

A neat row of modern individual seats line a long walkway and look out onto the gardens, the ultimate place for quiet reflection. The hallway opens up to the main restaurant XX, and elevators swwep geusts upstairs.

Highlights are the stunning infinity pool, surrounded by unique gazebos for lunging by day. On the same level there is a huge gymnasium cleverly designed with glass walls to let the garden oasis in, and packed with the latest equipment, and a club floor on level 16, which is modern, elegant and offers fabulous breakfasts, snacks and a cocktail hour.

Parkroyal on Pickering is located in the heart of Singapore, just a short walk from the Central Business District, Chinatown, and the Waterfront at Clarke Quay. The hotel is also easily accessible by public transport, with the Chinatown MRT station just a two-minute walk away. It is close to all the major shopping and dining districts and you can even walk to one of Singapore’s most famous hotels, Raffles Hotel.

The airport is about 25 minutes by taxi.

Rooms Rating: 8/10

The ultimate rooms to stay in are on the four middle floors, as they have gardens pouring out of the balconies outside and huge windows with striking views of the city as well as the lush gardens. Other rooms offer stunning views of Chinatown and Hong Lim Park

The rooms feel sustainable, with a green colour scheme and timber feel, and sustainability is a priority. All rooms have a built in filtered water tap, eliminating the need for bottled water of any sort. Floors are carpet around the beds and timber in the lounge, and bathroom areas, creating the feeling of space and warmth.

Superior rooms at Parkroyal on Pickering are spacious and airy, with modern décor and plush, comfortable king-sized beds. There is a sizeable bath and separate shower and toilet. The stylish design of the rooms and modern amenities appeal to discerning travellers.

Location: In a fabulous area walking distance to malls and even to Raffles Hotel.

Best culinary delight: The breakfast in the exclusive members club on the top floor.

The lowlight:  I would have liked an additional restaurant within the hotel.
