From creams to serums, we road-tested 5 high-end eye products which have been formulated to invigorate the under-eye area and lessen the appearance of dark circles.

Ellus and Krue Cellular Eye Repair RRP $165

Ellus and Krue Cellular Eye Repair

What is it: Eye cream

Best for:  Wrinkles and fine lines

Rating: 8/10

Texture: Light and runny

The Australian brand, Ellus and Krue is known for their scientifically formulated skincare range. The Ellus and Krue Cellular Eye Repair cream is best for under-eyes with fine lines and wrinkles. The cream itself has a powerful, hydrating formula that consists of vitamin A, niacinamide and avocado extract. It is ideal for ageing skin as it also boosts elasticity.

The product comes in a thin dark brown, tube packaging with a rose-gold lid. The tube comes with a glass applicator at the tip to push out product easily. The formula is lightweight and runny in consistency, so you only need to apply a pea-sized amount each use.

This eye cream glides seamlessly across the skin and only takes a few seconds to absorb fully. After absorption the skin under my eye was left feeling softer, more elastic and had a nourishing shine in appearance.

I trialed this product for around 3 weeks and as a result found my under-eyes were firmer and had a more hydrated appearance with almost no signs of fine lines. I would recommend this product for dry skin types.

Aspect Eyelift RRP $135

Rating: 8/10

Texture: Soft and creamy

The Aspect Eyelift cream’s main focus is to revitalise the appearance of under-eye bags and dark circles. This formula uses amino peptide technology in order to bring life back into the skin. This cream is also packed with antioxidants to soothe puffiness and hydrate the under-eye area.

This cream comes in a medium-sized tub with a flat push-pump dispenser that when pushed once releases the perfect amount of product you need for one use. The product is creamy and applies easily when patted into the skin. When applying this product, I was left with a slight tingling sensation however as soon as it absorbed into my skin that feeling went away.

This product instantly left my skin feeling moisturised and significantly dewier and illuminating in appearance. After trialling the eye cream for approximately 2 weeks, I noticed that my under-eye area was naturally firmer, and my dark circles were less visible.

Arbonne Lifting and Contouring Eye Cream RRP $85

Arbonne Lifting and Contouring Eye Cream

What is it: Eye Cream

Best for: Dull, dry under-eyes.

Rating: 7/10

Texture: Wet and creamy

The Arbonne Lifting and Contouring Eye Cream aims to tighten and firm the under-eye skin whilst simultaneously smoothing out the area for a velvety finish. With ingredients including shea butter, olive fruit oil and jojoba oil, this product will rejuvenate dull under-eyes to give off a more youthful appearance.

This product comes in a pocket-sized sky-blue tub with a silver lid. When using it I noticed it had a sunscreen-like scent and was wet in texture but creamy in consistency. It was soothing to apply, and I only needed a small pea-sized amount to cover both under-eye areas.

Immediately after applying this product, my eyes felt super moisturised as well as softer once it absorbed into my skin. After trialling it for a week and a half however, I did not notice any significant changes to my skin in regard to tightness or firmness. I would recommend trialling this product for at least 3 weeks to properly see results.

Cosmedix Opti Crystal Liquid Crystal Eye Serum RRP $95

Best for:  Dark circles, wrinkles and fine lines.

Rating: 9/10

Texture: Thick and sticky

The Cosmedix Opti Crystal Liquid Eye Serum has a rich formula that serves to reduce the look of dark circles and plump the appearance of fine lines. This best-selling eye serum is enriched with powerful antioxidants in order to attract and retain moisture into the skin.  

Infused with coconut, the product works to nourish the under-eye area as well as fight harmful free radicals that accelerate signs of ageing.

The serum comes in a tiny silver tube with a glass applicator at the top and the liquid is a beautiful iridescent purple colour. I only needed a small amount on the tip of my finger to apply generously under both eyes. The formula itself was quite sticky and applied heavily on the skin, leaving a shiny, greasy residue.

This product leaves the skin feeling ultra-hydrated and nourished. After trialling this product for two weeks, I found that my dark circles were virtually gone and the skin around my eyes seemed brighter, naturally. I also noticed that my concealer sits under my eyes much better after using this serum.

PCA Skin Ideal Complex Restorative Eye Cream RRP $90

PCA Skin Ideal Complex Restorative Eye Cream

Best for:  Dark circles, sagging under-eye skin.

Rating: 7/10

Texture: Smooth and creamy

The PCA Skin Ideal Complex Restorative Eye Cream is a gentle product that aims to rid of under-eye bags and lift the skin for a more radiant appearance. One jar can last up to a year as a minimal amount of product is needed each use in order to see results. The formula includes ingredients such as grapefruit seed oil and orange stem cell extract to strengthen skin structure.

This product has sleek packaging and is an open pot experience. The formula has a soft, creamy texture and a distinct citrus-y smell. The cream is lightweight and soothing to apply under the eyes. It absorbs into the skin quite easily with just a few taps. I found that straight after using this cream my under-eyes felt moisturised and significantly softer.

After trialling this product for over two weeks I did notice a reduction in my under-eye bags as promised. I would not recommend this product for sensitive skin types as in some cases it has been known to cause redness.
