Ensana, one of Europe’s largest operators of wellness hotels is doubling its portfolio.

Ensana is one of Europe’s largest operators of health spa hotels, and has set an ambitious goal to enter new markets that already have a strong hold on wellness including Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. In the process, Ensana will double its international portfolio by 2030, marking a transformative phase in the wellness hospitality sector.

Founded under the CP Holdings umbrella, Ensana originated from the medical spa facilities of Hungary’s Danubius Hotels Group in 2019.

Today, the company manages 28 health spa hotels across the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Romania, and the UK. These hotels are deeply rooted in historic spa towns, capitalising on natural therapeutic resources such as mineral springs, mud baths, and saline waters combined with advanced medical science to deliver tailored guest experiences.

The company’s CEO, Frank Halmos, emphasises that Ensana’s wellness offerings are distinct because they fuse traditional natural remedies with modern, evidence-based medical and wellness programs, crafted and supervised by expert physicians, thus ensuring bespoke health outcomes for their guests.

The centerpiece of this portfolio doubling strategy is the company’s entry into new markets in the DACH region—Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

Ensana’s first German property, the iconic Fürstenhof Hotel in the Lower Bavarian Spa Triangle town of Bad Griesbach, is set to be reopened in Q2 2026 following extensive renovations. The Fürstenhof historically renowned for its thermal springs, will undergo an extensive refurbishment to align with Ensana’s high standards, featuring state-of-the-art medical diagnostics, luxurious wellness facilities, and enhanced hospitality services.

Beyond health programs targeting musculoskeletal issues, stress relief, and holistic well-being, Ensana is integrating leisure activities such as golf, with exclusive packages, to create a comprehensive wellness and active lifestyle destination.

This move not only broadens their geographical footprint but also reinforces their positioning in premium health tourism.
