Hotel Convent de la Missio Review, Palma Mallorca. A hotel that offers an exquisite personalised luxury stay for the discerning traveller.
Tucked away on a quiet street in Palma’s charming old quarter, Hotel Convent de la Missió is a luxury boutique hotel that effortlessly blends 18th-century architecture with contemporary design.
Once a convent for missionaries, this serene five-star hideaway is now one of Mallorca’s most sought-after addresses for an intimate, elegant luxury stay thanks to its understated elegance, personalised service, and gourmet experiences right in the heart of the capital.
For a romantic escape, a cultural city break, or a destination dining experience, Hotel Convent de la Missió offers a romantic, sophisticated and memorable stay with a unique sense of place. I stayed in summer 2025 during my first ever trip to Mallorca, and was thrilled with every aspect of the hotel, especially the service, and the restaurant truly blew me away.

From the location, which is walking distance to everything you need in Palma to the striking hotel’s design as well as the rooftop pool, the elegant bar in the middle and Marc Fosh restaurant, this is an elevated yet relaxed stay in every way.
The hotel was originally a 17th-century convent and training center for missionaries. The Catholic Church established it to provide a secluded environment for priests during their studies, and this peace and tranquility can still be felt throughout the building.
The building retains its original Baroque architecture, including marès stone, arches, high ceilings, and peaceful courtyards.

Overall Rating: 9.2 / 10
Location: 9.5 / 10
Hotel Convent de La Missio enjoys an enviable location in Palma’s historic centre. And Mallorca is a walker’s paradise – you can literally walk everywhere you would want to go. While it’s just a five-minute stroll to Plaça Major, Las Ramblas, and the city’s best boutique shopping and art galleries that includes Maje, Sandro, Louis Vuitton, Zara, H&M and more, the surrounding area of the hotel is blissfully peaceful.
The Olivar Market, a food lover’s paradise, is also nearby and the ocean is about 10 minutes on foot where abundant restaurants and bars abound.
Despite its tranquil setting, it is only a short 20-minute taxi ride (Euro 35) from Palma de Mallorca Airport, making arrival and departure seamless.
Rooms and Comfort: 9 / 10
Hotel Convent de la Missió houses just 27 thoughtfully designed rooms, including 14 suites, ensuring an intimate atmosphere. The interiors follow a clean, minimalist aesthetic: white walls, light natural wood flooring, and taupe carpeting create a calming, understated environment.
Rooms are fitted with comfortable king-size beds, plush ivory-toned armchairs, Nespresso machines, and elegant wooden valet stands. Thoughtful touches like complimentary handmade truffles and L’Occitane bath products elevate the experience.
Bathrooms are particularly impressive, with deep sinks, gold plated mirrors, deep stand alone baths, and spacious walk-in rainfall showers—some even housed within the original monastery walls.
For a more exclusive stay, book one of the newer third-floor rooms where I stayed, which feature original monastery doors and a heightened sense of both luxury and privacy.

Service: 9.5 / 10
Service at Hotel Convent de la Missió is exceptional without being intrusive. From the moment guests are welcomed with a personalised drink of their choice, staff are consistently warm, professional, and attentive.
Whether arranging restaurant reservations, offering local insights, or handling luggage, their efficiency and courtesy are frequently noted by returning guests.
I sat at the bar each night and let the bar tender mix me a surprise before I ventured out, and the cocktails were exceptional. Other hotel staff booked local restaurants for me, recommended walking trails and generally supported me and ensured I had a fantastic stay in Mallorca in every way.

Wellness and Facilities: 8.5 / 10
The hotel’s wellness area is small but thoughtfully designed—and steeped in atmosphere. The rooftop pool is elegant with plenty of sunshine.
It’s an ideal way to unwind after a day of exploring the city or simply to have a siesta on the luxe pools day beds in the fresh air. It is also perfect for sunset cocktails with views over Palma’s rooftops.
A small gym is also available—perfect for a morning stretch and some weights. The basement has gold gilded saunas, and warm, plush pools, with spacious change rooms, which would be wonderful in winter as well as at the height of summer when escaping from the hot sun can be imperative.

Sustainability: 8 / 10
Hotel Convent de la Missió shows a growing commitment to sustainability. It sources local, seasonal ingredients for its restaurant, uses eco-friendly toiletries, and embraced low-impact building techniques in its preservation of the original convent structure.
However, like almost every hotel in the world, there may be room for more formal green initiatives, which may become more visible in future developments.

Food and Beverage: 9 / 10
Marc Fosh – A Michelin-Starred Culinary Experience
A stay at Hotel Convent de la Missió would not be complete without dining at Marc Fosh, the hotel’s celebrated restaurant helmed by Marc Fosh, the only British chef in Spain to hold a Michelin star.
I had lunch there and it was absolutely exquisite. I meet many hotel guests doing the same thing and some have been ding there for more than a decade.
His cuisine is as refined as the setting—modern Mediterranean fare with bold, clean flavours that highlight fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients.
Diners can choose to sit in the stylish indoor dining room or beneath ferns and palm trees in the tranquil courtyard, complete with a water feature. Highlights from the tasting menu include:
- Foie gras with fresh figs and prickly pear emulsion
- Smoked fish from Formentera
- Anise-glazed duck with toasted hay bone marrow sauce
Desserts are equally inventive, with dishes like sea buckthorn panna cotta and pineapple consommé with samphire. The seven-course evening tasting menu is priced around $180 AUD, while lunch menus are available from $120 AUD. A $90 AUD wine pairing is available and well worth considering for a complete gastronomic journey. The sommelier I met was full of fabulous wine ideas and pairings,
A decadent breakfast is served in the restaurant and includes freshly baked breads, local cheeses and meats, seasonal fruits, and à la carte hot options. There is also free flow prosecco by the glass.

Value for Money: 8 / 10
Rooms at Hotel Convent de la Missió range from around $600 AUD in low season to $1000 AUD in high season, with premium suites starting at around $1000AUD.
While not inexpensive, the combination of design, service, location, and access to a Michelin-starred restaurant on site makes this hotel a strong value proposition for luxury travellers. I loved every minute.
Breakfast and Wi-Fi are included, and on-site parking is available for $50 AUD per day.
Accessibility and Family Friendliness
The hotel has one adapted room for guests with disabilities located on the third floor, and staff are helpful in assisting with specific needs. There are also two elevators.Families are welcome, with cots, highchairs, and extra beds available, though the hotel’s serene atmosphere may be better suited to adults or families with older children.
Convent de la Missió offers a unique luxury experience that goes beyond a regular standard five-star stay due to the intimacy of it. With its historic setting, personalised service, designer interiors, and the culinary artistry of Marc Fosh, it’s a hotel that appeals to the senses as much as it soothes the soul.
